Info about the wine
The site is located in a very steep side valley of the Moselle in the Wolf district. Long forgotten, this is a top vineyard with grey, finely weathered slate. The winery cultivates three smaller plots on this site.
Info about the expansion
Pressing, then storage of the must partly in stainless steel, partly in barrels, spontaneous fermentation without the use of clarifying agents or "fining agents", to interrupt the fermentation "racking" of the wine in a cooler section of the cellar, bottling in April.
Color
Light golden yellow with clear green reflections.
Nose
The 2020 Wolfer Sonnenlay Riesling Kabinett from Weiser-Künstler initially conveys distinct earthy and slatey hints and demands the carafe. After sufficient aeration, aromas of grapefruit wedges tossed in sugar, lime, green apple and exotic gooseberry as well as clear cassis notes emerge. Already in the nose, an insane depth and a very good development potential is recognisable.
Palate
Sweetness and acidity go hand in hand in the 2020 Wolfer Sonnenlay Riesling Kabinett from Weiser-Künstler. It literally floats over the tongue, especially in the long, elegant finish. The acidity seems very precise, it will be exciting if you allow it a few years of maturity, then it will unfold its complexity even more clearly. With only 7.5 vol%, it flows down the gullet like a cooling mountain stream even at high outside temperatures and leaves the joyful drinker wanting more!
Be sure to decant!
