Wine information
The Silvaner grapes come from the oldest Silvaner plant in the Wilhelmsberg in Kitzingen. The vines there stand on far poorer soils than at the foot of the slope, which forces the plants to root deeply in the shell limestone. The Silvaner was allowed to macerate overnight after the harvest. After pressing, the wine was fermented spontaneously, partly in new French or German oak barriques. The wine underwent biological acid degradation and matured on the fine lees for twelve months.
Color
medium straw yellow
Nose
The Silvaner still seems quite closed and discreet, it first needs air to open up. Then notes of dry herbs and hay, of must pears and yellow plums with a hint of blond tobacco and a little dry earth emerge.
Palate
On the palate, this is a firm, earthy, spicy and slightly vegetal 2019s Silvaner, which on the one hand seems quite austere, but on the other also juicy, yellow-fruited and citrusy with lots of juice and a round silky acidity. It is a Silvaner that benefits from its powerful extract and is in the process of gradually bringing the many components together.
