This Wiener Gemischter Satz DAC is based on the old vines in the Weisleiten vineyard on the very well-known Nussberg in Vienna. Limestone as well as weathered shell limestone with a medium clay layer form the basis.
Of course, the vineyard undergoes biodynamic treatment. The mixed set is composed of Pinot Blanc, Riesling, Grüner Veltliner, Neuburger, Welschriesling and Traminer - quite classic in this diversity. After the manual harvest, the grapes undergo a short, five-hour maceration period before being pressed. Fermentation takes place with the vineyard's own yeasts in steel tanks. Racking off the yeast after a few months and subsequent assemblage of the different lots.

Nose
In the 2021 vintage, the Wiener Gemischter Satz from the Weisleiten vineyard is so white-flowered that you can hardly take your nose off it. Jasmine, hydrangea, lilac and carnation clearly dominate it. Its still quite striking yeasty note fits like a glove. Mirabelle plums, yellow and green apples support these ideas noticeably and very successfully. A hint of marzipan and fresh almonds complement it. A delicate nuance of lemon balm can be perceived in the background.
Palate
On the palate, it comes across as delicate and pointed. The fruit retains its floral character. It has a juicy and crisp structure. Fine acidity peaks flow in positively again and again and ensure an ingenious drinking flow. In the middle, it has a good amount of pressure. A breeze of salt adds to its charm, as it comes up as an active contrast to its attractive acid structure. In the aftertaste, there is clearly more fruit and above all a fine herbal spiciness instead of the initially intense floral nuances.
