Waris-Larmandier

The Waris-Larmandier Champagne House was founded in 1989 by Marie-Hélène Larmandier and her husband Vincent Waris in Avize. Both come from winemaking families spanning five generations. After the unexpected death of Vincent Waris, the Guy Larmandier family winery in Vertus was run by Marie-Hélène and her brother François. The real start of Waris-Larmandier only began in 2009.

Waris-Larmandier is biodynamically certified by Demeter since 2020. The champagne house owns nine hectares of first-class vineyards with old Chardonnay vines in the villages of Chouilly, Cramant, Avize, Oger and Le Mesnil-sur-Oger. The smaller parcels of Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier in Bligny and Chamery are located in the Montagne de Reims, as well as some parcels on the Côte des Bar in Avirey-Lingey, Bar-sur-Seine and Éguilly-Sous-Bois. The focus is on the properties on the Côte des Blancs, where Jean-Philippe owns some vineyards, some of which are very old.

Jean-Philippe is supported by his brother Pierre-Louis, an architect, and his sister Inès, a designer and sculptor. Together with their mother, they form the "racines de trois" (the three roots) of Waris-Larmandier, each making their own contribution to the artistic vision of this young and dynamic champagne house.

The champagnes from Waris-Larmandier are characterised by elegance and a very successful balance of minerality and silkiness. Due to the lower pressure, they appear open, round and charming right from the start. The champagnes from Waris-Larmandier are first-class representatives of the Côte des Blancs, each of which still has excellent ageing potential.
