TREVIGNE - written together from now on.
As the name deliberately suggests, the grapes for this traditional Barbera d'Alba come from three different sites in the Langhe region. Vines that are 25-40 years old grow there on chalky soils with a clayey overlay.
The wine is fermented and aged exclusively in stainless steel.
Color
The wine is garnet red in colour, slightly brightening towards the rim, and translucent, clear and shiny in the glass.
Nose
Joyful and agile, the aromatics of this Piedmont swing from sour cherry to plum and back again. Hearty cherries meet the scent of a plum cake with golden brown shortbread. Subtle herbal notes of rosemary, thyme and a hint of coriander, as well as nutmeg and barley malt, bring depth to what otherwise promises juicy freshness.
Palate
Precise, polished and supple, the 2019 Barbera d'Alba TREVIGNE from Vietti glides across the palate. At the same time, it retains immense tension thanks to a buoyant acidity in F# major, celebrates the diversity of the fruit it harbours and stands for drinkable joie de vivre. Its tannins are finely roughened sandpaper that leaves a silky smoothness after use.
Its 14%vol. are hardly noticeable in the overall perception of the wine, as it is simply coherent in itself.
