Domaine dOuréa, Fontbonne, 84190 Vacqueyras / France, organic certificate: FR-BIO-01".

Tasting note from dated Nov 27, 2019 copyright Peter Mueller

The wine is bright golden yellow with white-gold reflections clear and shiny in the glass.

Discreet yellow fruit and ethereal spice meet playfully. Fresh, still slightly green banana, Sharon fruit and kiwi as well as honeydew melon and a faint hint of peach yoghurt provide the wine's fruitiness. In addition to the fruit opulence of this Adrien Roustan wine, it shines with the ethereal spice of tangerine zest and slightly nutty notes reminiscent of nutmeg as well as bay leaf, white pepper and star anise. Delicately smoky accents with a smouldering campfire in the background.

The 2018 Vacqueyras Blanc from Domaine d'Ouréa also convinces on the palate with its fruit-laden attack and a subsequent wonderfully creamy texture. Spacious in terms of aroma and structure, yet neither deliberate nor overpowering, this marriage of juiciness and palpable yet subtle smokiness through a sensitive use of wood barrels is an unexpectedly lively middleweight from the Vacqueyras.

A wine, in the most positive sense, as unpretentious as it is serious, which quickly leads from one sip to the next.

Delicate and elegant, yet self-confident and true to its origins.

Food recommendations from Peter Müller

  • Pearl barley risotto with sorrel and herb seedlings
  • Roasted saddle of rabbit with spicy mushrooms and orange chicory
  • Quiche Lorraine of wild salmon
