Info

Recaredo is located in Sant Sadurni d'Anoia, the absolute cava stronghold, but has turned its back on the D.O. Cava appellation. Cava appellation and now markets its wines under the Corpinnat designation of origin. Indeed, one still has to be careful as hell not to call the great wines of Recaredo Cava. Corpinnat is the region between the imposing Montserrat Mountains and the nearby Mediterranean Sea. The Corpinnat appellation brings together under its umbrella the leading quality wineries that have broken with the D.O. Cava and now want to be increasingly recognized by their high-quality sparkling wines. Cava is much too broad in mass and with a simple image for this.

The winery lives the tradition of sparkling wine production like few others in the global market. Turo d'en Mota is a single vineyard from 100% Xarel-lo. The vines were planted in 1940. From the 2007 vintage, they pulled 4539 bottles for second fermentation. The wines age on their lees under natural corks. All wines are Brut Nature. The Turo d'en Mota aged on its lees for 151 months before it was then manually disgorged in December 2020. The long yeast storage is an absolutely unique selling point of Recaredo.

Color

Bright straw yellow, fine perlage

Nose

The nose is strong in character and corresponds to the ideas of a Catalan sparkling wine of the highest quality. One smells directly that this is about origin and not banalities like fruit. One perceives the limestone intensely and literally feels it in the glass. The yeast has also left its mark after more than twelve years. Wet chalk, lemon abrasion and a discreet smoky tone are present in the background. With a little air - and in a big glass, please - some sea buckthorn, chamomile and jasmine tea unfolds. Always restrained and always this blank stoniness in the foreground.

Palate

On the palate, please don't expect a brute Brut Nature. The autolysis through the long yeast storage has resulted in a complex, highly exciting mouthfeel. This monument of sparkling wine lives from a gripping minerality. A delicate melting lays itself like a film on the palate. The acidity is pleasantly present and breaks through the mouthfeel again and again. A great interplay of emotions on the palate. This is exactly how one wishes for great sparkling wines. Unlike previous vintages of the same wine, the 2007 seems balanced and calm. It does not show the absolute bareness. but this interpretation and the versatile mouthfeel convince the taster completely.
