Color

Here we have a wine whose deep black-red to the edges is lightened only by minimal violet tones.

Nose

If we look at the 2013 Tros de Clos, its impressive minerality immediately jumps out, providing a cool and complex perception on the nose. Let the wine breathe and unfold a little and you will be rewarded by the dominance of intense herbal notes as well as the wonderful scents of blackberries, blueberries, brambles and cassis. A special twist in this flood of aromas is the allusion to cardamom, juniper and sandalwood, which add a fascinating oriental note to this Burgundian Feinetry.

Palate

Our taste journey with the 2013 Tros del Clos continues on the palate in its mineral consistency. Its refreshing acidity and fine-grained tannin structure give it a surprising elegance, measured against its otherwise opulent richness. The wood finish fades completely into the background and simply makes you want to enjoy this elegant drop immediately. Nevertheless, I can assure you that a little patience pays off. After all, those almost 100-year-old Carignan vines only show their full glory after a few years of maturation.

Recommendation

You want to enjoy this fabulous wine right away? No problem! However, make sure you decant it first. Even a few days after opening, it still gains in flavour.

As for food recommendations, noble mushroom and root vegetable pie, venison in puff pastry with truffle and chestnut puree, and lamb tajine with couscous and sultanas are excellent accompaniments. Alternatively, consider a herb-crusted beef fillet or a casserole of root vegetables and smoked cheese. Charm your palate!
