Wine information
The Pinot Noir comes from the 0.68 hectare Clos de la Cave parcel above the estate at an altitude of around 300 metres between the Clos des Ducs and La Cave. The average age of the vines is 38 years. They are soils with sand and clay layers on a limestone base. Fermentation took place in open vats for about three weeks, ageing over 20 months in barrels. The proportion of new wood was 30 %.

Nose
The Volnay »Clos de la Cave« 2019 is as fragrant as it is serious Volnayinitially dominated by some violets and rose petals, cherries and cherry stones, a hint of clove, orange peel and herbs. It is an almost ethereal scent that rises from the glass here and combines with a little earth, stone and some foliage.
Palate
On the palate, similar to the nose, it is evident that the location on the edge of the forest provides coolness in the wine. The Pinot Noir offers a wonderful freshness in both the high-toned fruit and the brilliant acid structure. One is reminded here of fresh raspberries, a few cherries, barberries and cranberries, dried herbs and foliage. The wood is restrainedly present, the tannin very elegant but quite firm. This is a wonderful Villagebut not only that, but also an expression of a certain place, worked out with impressive precision.
