Wine information
Alta Alella is the best known and probably the best producer in the DO Alella area. Typical for the area is the soil "Sauló", a kind of decomposed granite. It is said to give the wines an electrifying acidity and minerality. The appellation is also located directly on the Mediterranean Sea near the port city of Barcelona. The grape variety Xarel.lo, which is becoming increasingly popular in Catalonia, is called Pansa Blanca in the DO Alella. This highly interesting white wine is made from it. The wine was matured in concrete oak without the addition of sulphur.
Color
Light gold, slightly cloudy
Nose
Tallarol offers a stimulating combination of ripe pome fruit and crisp, fresh citrus fruit in the bouquet. One senses a certain wildness with high aromatic intensity. The white wine has a very distinctive nose with personality.
Palate
The Gewächs appears powerful and dense on the palate and at the same time has a piquant acidity. The fruit is rather restrained and is dominated by citrus and herbal notes such as fennel. Instead of an opulent play of fruit, this white wine is much more characterised by mineral grip - the mouthfeel, full body and texture are the focus. The finish also reveals a bitterness characteristic of Pansa Blanca, which gives the wine additional structure. In short, very drinkable.
