Wine information

Most of the vineyards on the edge of the Haard in the transition from the Rhine plain to the Palatinate Forest face east. In the sunshine, however, is in the Siebeldinger summer side in the Queichtal, and it is exposed to the south. The vineyard is situated at 160 to 250 meters and has a slope of 5 to 20 %. The Pinot Noir stands, facing southwest, on shell limestone soil from the Triassic. After selective hand harvesting, the grapes were destemmed and pre-fermented in a cool place for several days. The subsequent maceration lasted about a week, and the wine then remained on the skins for another two weeks. Malolactic fermentation took place in wooden barrels. Mainly new French and Palatinate barriques were used. The Pinot Noir matured there for about 20 months, followed by bottle maturation.

Color

rich, still slightly transparent cherry red

Nose

The 2015 Pinot Noir »R" opens with a note of cassis drops. Quickly, however, cherries and wild berries gain the upper hand, which combine with emphatically spicy notes of cinnamon and black cardamom, herbs and wood. The maturity of the wine also already hints at a few balsamic notes.

Mouth

On the palate the Great Growth At first quite sweet with its ripe fruit core, round in its tannin and elegant in its acidity. Especially the tannin seems much finer and silkier in 2015 than in the previous year. However, this Pinot always remains on the powerful side with extract and spice as well as a hint of paprika essence and manages to be highly drinkable despite its complexity.
