Wine information
The basis for the "Aus den Lagen" wine line is formed by all of the estate's own classified vineyards with their soils and microclimates, which are located over a length of almost five kilometres along the Haardtrand. The "Aus den Lagen" series, which comes exclusively from classified VDP.ERSTEN and VDP.GROSSEN LAGEN, thus corresponds to a classic "Second Vin" in international comparison.
Information on the expansion
Lots from Gimmeldinger and Mußbacher VDP.Erste Lagen as well as graded barrels from the crus in Gimmeldingen and Königsbach combine their unique structure and finesse. Fermented with 20-30 % whole grapes, aged for 18 months with 20 % new wood, bottled in May 2021.
Color
Covered garnet red with clear lightening towards the rim.
Nose
On the nose, the 2019 Pinot Noir "Aus den Lagen" displays seductive fruit and coolness, sour cherries, wild raspberries, plums and blackberries combine with elderberry pulp, undergrowth and a fine floral note reminiscent of ivy, roses and boxwood. This is discreetly accompanied by the scent of wood, which is nicely integrated and merely rounds off and completes the wine.
Palate
Juicy with lots of berry fruit, it hits the tongue, the acidity is stimulating, the tannin super fine and polished. A dream of a Pinot Noir with minerality and beautiful length, which already sets very high standards in Christmann's entry-level segment and leaves the taster wanting another sip.
