Tasting note from from 10.03.2021, Copyright Sebastian Bordthäuser

The Vorgrimmler winery is one of the pioneers of organic viticulture in Baden. The winery has been working organically for more than 30 years, and has been Demeter certified since 2006. Vorgrimmler's vineyards are located in the Tuniberg and in the Kapellenberg, west of Freiburg. On 3.2 hectares, May Britt and Klaus Vorgrimmler exclusively cultivate Burgundy, of which Pinot Noir (65%) makes up the lion's share.

Grown on the fertile loess soils of the Kapellenberg, the grapes are harvested by hand before being fermented spontaneously with our own yeasts. The red wines mature for 18 to 24 months in barriques. Unfined and without the use of animal products, the wines are also suitable for vegans.

Color

Transparent ruby red with violet reflections.

Nose

Raspberries, sour cherries and red mulberries lay the fruity foundation with slightly ethereal notes in the top note. Currant leaf, blackberry leaf, sage and cedar are complemented by spicy notes of white pepper, allspice and a little clove. A Pinot Noir with cool nature and animating fresh fruit with simultaneous depth and complexity.

Mouth

The 2017 Pinot Noir from Klaus Vorgrimmler is also silky on the palate with transparent, fresh fruit. Raspberries straight from the bush, including seeds, fill the fruit basket, the tannins are delicately interwoven with the tannin of the wine and always carried by the agile acid arc, which accompanies itself from the fruity entry to the distinctive, slightly salty finish. Extremely much wine for a casual budget.
