Wine information
The Sobremoro is a pure Tempranillo. The fruit comes from Viñaspre in the Rioja Alavesa. The Sobremoro vineyard is located at 580 metres. It has a stony, ferruginous clay soil with lime. The 45-year-old vines are planted as bush vines in the vineyard. After manual harvesting and sorting, the grapes were destemmed and fermented spontaneously at a maximum of 25 °C for 20 days. Maturation took place for 18 months in second-stage French barriques.

Nose
The restrained and fine use of wood is noticeable in this Tempranillo, which provides a warm, slightly cinnamon and nutmeg-like note in the ripe red fruit right from the start. Wild strawberry compote, some red currants, raspberries and some black cherries characterise the fruit, which is accompanied by sweet tobacco, some leather and dried herbs.
Palate
On the palate, the wood is more present than in the other single vineyards. But here, too, it appears elegant, carrying, deep and fine. The tannin of this wine is still slightly astringent on the palate, but already very fine-grained. The acidity testifies to the right harvest time in the quite high situated parcel. This is a dark-fruited wine of ripe berries with a sensual impression and finesse as well as a cool vein, which makes the Rioja very complete and inviting.
