Info about the wine
Santa Margherita The vineyard is situated at 490 m a.s.l. and is divided into 4 plots of sandy calcareous marl. In the Costa Sud and Costa Nord plots, the soil is rich in gypsum and fossils, which gives the wine a high salinity and additional complexity. The Terrazza and Trefile plots have a stony clay-limestone soil that gives the wine more flesh and acidity.
Info about the expansion
Harvested in the first ten days of September.
Fermentation took place with wild yeasts in concrete tanks and oval Austrian 25hl wooden barrels. It was then matured for 10 months, partly in concrete tanks, partly in the oval Austrian wooden barrels, then 4 months in bottle.
Color
Intense golden yellow.
Nose
It is an incredibly intense, impressive and beautiful aroma that the Grillo exudes on the nose, a sea of herbs such as sage, rosemary, thyme combines with precise, radiant chalky minerality, you feel transported directly to the cliffs of the sea while the wind catches you and carries you away. With enough oxygen contact, fruity aromas of lemon, orange, apple and fresh pear are added.
Palate
On the palate, the 2021 "SM" Santa Margherita Vino di Contrada impresses with gripping, taut spiciness, salty minerality and an extremely lively acidity. Full-bodied, demanding and long-lasting, this extremely juicy white wine can be perfectly combined with Mediterranean sun cuisine. Wow!
Decant if possible and enjoy from large glasses.
