Tasting note from from 29.09.2022, Copyright Sebastian Bordthäuser

Markus Heid and Lukas Herrmann took over the traditional winery Weingut Wilhelm Meuschel jr. in 2018 and continue the history of the winery, which began in 1845, with their wines and together realise their common vision of contemporary wines. In the vineyard as well as in the cellar, they refrain from unnecessary interventions out of conviction. The winery is located in Kitzingen, about 18 kilometres from Würzburg. The estate wine Silvaner is a cuvée of vineyards from the Wiesenbronn Geißberg, the Kitzingen Hofrat and the Kitzingen Wilhelmsberg and combines the two original Franconian soil types shell limestone and Keuper.

Color

Rich straw yellow with bright green reflections.

Nose

The nose of the 2021 Silvaner trocken from Weingut Wilhelmsberg is typical of the variety and its origin and oscillates between discreetly restrained fruit and Franconian spiciness. Nectarine peel and yellow apples mingle with herbaceous notes and the crisp crust of freshly baked sourdough bread. Uncomplicated in the best sense, it promises juicy fun in the glass.

Mouth

A promise that is kept. The fruity notes of the nose show themselves with elegant restraint in the extract rather than with cheeky primary fruitiness. Characterised by its distinctive spicy character and its Franconian dry style, it is suitable as a refreshing wine for any occasion.
