Info

Viticulture has a long tradition around the town of Vittoria, where Arianna Occhipinti lives and cultivates her wines. At the foot of the Iblei mountains, her wine estate "Fossa di Lupo" - the wolf's cave - is located. The grapes of the region, Frappato and Nero D'Avola, belong to her whole passion. Her greatest concern is to preserve the strength and harmony of the Nero D'Avola and the freshness and elegance of the Frappato. Arianna appreciates the characteristic of the two grape varieties to harmonize wonderfully with each other, although they are so different. She admires their strength and their ability to unite past and future. By the way, if you think Arianna and Giusto Occhipinti are related, Giusto is her uncle.

Color

Bright, shining through cherry red

Nose

A very subtle, first nose stirs up excitement and makes you go straight into thought. The Siccagno leaves dark, spicy traces. Mulberry, plum, a little sloe and fully ripe blackberries. Not surprising, since Siccagno is the name for concentrated Nero d'Avola grapes. Arianna Occhipinti, however, does not stand for a jammy or lush style. Quite the opposite. Warm leather and eucalyptus also make their presence felt. The spice cabinet is not left unopened here. Clove, speculoos spice and cinnamon are used. Some almond blossom and violets round this off.

Palate

This has nothing in common with the common, over-concentrated Nero d'Avola of the masses. This is so delicate, fragile and elegant. The Siccagno envelops the palate like silk. Beguiling and light-footed, it prances on the tongue. Remember that this wine grows in hot Sicily. This is so deep and serious without even the hint of power or tannin. With a fine acidity, it seems bright-toned on the finish, developing sour cherry flavors and literally not wanting to end.
