Wine profile
Siccagno is at the heart of Arianna, a Nero d'Avola made from intense grapes that thrive on 35-year-old vines on red sand, chalk and limestone. Each grape is hand-picked in the first ten days of October, before fermenting with wild yeasts all over its clusters, then maturing for 22 months in Slovenian oak barrels with a capacity of 22hl, followed by another two months in the bottle.
Colour shade
A proud and deep garnet red radiates from the glass, suffused with black and violet hues.
Scent
A powerful bouquet full of dark cherries, stewed plums, fruit bread, tobacco and grilled rosemary brings the 2020 Siccagno to life. This Nero d'Avola combines notes of chalk and lime with fruity hints reminiscent of a mix of ripe red and dark fruits, blood oranges and orange zest.
Taste
An invigorating freshness permeates the palate, with the refreshing acidity and moderate alcohol content of only 12Vol% creating a pleasant liveliness. A fine spicy finish rounds off the taste experience and tempts you to pour another glass immediately. Best served slightly chilled and with powerful, intense and Mediterranean dishes. Burgundy glasses are best suited as a vessel.
Food recommendations
Try it with a herb frittata with lemon zest, spaghetti bolognese with minced lamb and a veal steak with a basil and blood orange reduction, served on creamy polenta.
