Information

Teroldego from the Sgarzon vineyard in Campo Rotaliano, Mezzolombardo, grown on 2.5 hectares of alluvial alluvium about a kilometre from the Morei vineyard, which is close to the Foradori winery. There is a lot of sand in the topsoil, the plot is open and barely protected from the cold winds. The grapes ripen about a week later than in Morei. The wine was aged on the skins for eight months in tinajas, Spanish 420-litre cellar amphorae. In spring 2018, the wine was drawn off into concrete tanks to harmonise over the summer.

Nose

From the pair of brothers Morei and Sgarzon is the Sgarzon always the somewhat brighter, wilder and cooler wine, which is no wonder, since it comes from the cooler site. With the 2017 vintage, the Sgarzon In the fragrance earthy and stony with a lot of undergrowth and the juice of red berries. Dry herbs play a role here, sloes, barberries, but also a little juniper and elderberries.

Palate

On the palate, there is the earthy and stony note as well as the fine texture reminiscent of a burnt clay layer, which unmistakably comes from aging in the amphora. Added to this is the young, demanding and punchy acidity of the SgarzonThe wine has a good acidity, which, together with the partly red, partly dark fruit, provides for a lot of juiciness and freshness. There is a lot of sour cherry in this wine and again some sloe, but also a little dark plum. The finish shows a fine saltiness, which additionally promotes the now already impressive drinking flow.
