Out of stock

Here, too, the red fruit notes tend to dominate, and one finds herbs and a little of this landscape, parched in summer, in which the ancient vines grow. What is particularly pleasing here is this fine pull on the palate, the wine's drinking flow, which is so typical of Georg Meissner's Roussillons.

Wine information

Serrat de la Plane in Catalan means stony plateau. This is the name of the place where the vineyard is found, and accordingly, the wine created on this extreme site is called. Georg Meissner takes care of his two vineyards, which were originally supposed to be cleared, with much commitment. The old Grenache vineyard is exposed to the wind and stands on a dry, stony gneiss weathered soil. The yields are around 9hl/ha.

Color

medium, slightly cloudy purple

Nose

Of the three vintages released at the same time, 2017, 2016 and 2015, this oldest is the most currently shy of the three wines. On the nose, there are freshly crushed wild strawberries and blue fruits on a bed of dry earth as well as undergrowth with garrigue and dry herbs.

Palate

But on the palate you can feel the seething power that is in this wine. The Grenache has grippy and distinctive tannins and is very juicy. Again, the red fruit notes tend to dominate, and you find herbs and a bit of that summer parched landscape where the ancient vines grow. On the palate, there is a slight carbonic acidity, which may be due to the fact that the Serrat de la Plane was neither filtered nor sulphurized. What is particularly pleasing here is this fine pull on the palate, the drinking flow of the wine, which is so typical of the Roussillon of Georg Meissner.
