Wine information
This exquisite drop comes from the El Plà de Manlleu vineyard in Alt Penedès, located in Ester Nin's home region. Together with Carles Ortiz, she has planted a mixed paddock of Roussanne, Marsanne, Chenin blanc and Parellada Montonega on one hectare here. These vines thrive excellently at an altitude of 750 metres on clay and limestone soil. The harvest is followed by a slow pressing process and a two-day maceration of the grapes with skin and stems. Spontaneous fermentation takes place in barriques before the wine is allowed to mature for eight months in nine different barriques and finally for three years in the bottle.
Colour profile
The wine glass takes on a hint of sparkling, intense golden yellow.
Fragrances
The 2019 Selma de Nin glows illuminatingly from the glass. Immediately after pouring, aromas of lime, grapefruit, orange, apricot and young mango explode, complemented by floral scents and subtle toasted notes. Hints of vanilla, latte and brittle unfold, emphasising the masterful and discreet influence of ageing in wooden barrels. An extremely fresh start that awakens the desire for the first sip.
Taste experience
On the palate, this top white wine presents itself in absolute top form. Juicy light fruits dance on the tongue, with notes of pear and quince, while a refreshing acidity recalls the citrus notes of the nose. With a moderate alcohol content of 12.5 vol%, this wine exudes pure elegance and harmonises perfectly with refined and elegant dishes. It can be stored for a few years without hesitation. However, if you decide to enjoy it immediately, you should decant it and serve it in large glasses. Even a day-long chilling after opening will refine its flavour profile.
