Color
Bright straw yellow.
Nose
The nose of the 2012 Schlossberg Riesling Grand Cru from Domaine Trapet is opulently endowed with notes of fully ripe fruit and honey. Yellow apples, fully ripe pears and quinces mingle with tangerine and candied orange peel. Beeswax, chervil and mild spice notes as well as mace, white pepper and green almonds complete the aromatically lush cornucopia.
Mouth
On the palate, the Schlossberg is generous with a viscous feel and firm structure. Grown on greywacke, it has high extract and builds enormous pressure on the palate. Despite a delicate residual sweetness, it is dry to the touch with immense inner tension. The taut fruit is flanked by fine tannins and salty minerality and the ripe acidity accompanies it into the long, cool finish.
