The Am Klotz winery is a project of the Keller and Reinecker families. Fritz and Friedrich Keller from the Oberbergen vineyard of the same name and Steffen Reinecker from the Markgräflerland concentrate on Burgundy varieties as well as the regionally typical Chasselas, which find ideal conditions on the coral limestone beds at the Isteiner Klotz.
The Sauvignon Blanc from the limestone and loess soils of the same name was fermented spontaneously with its own yeasts in stainless steel and only lightly filtered, sulphurised shortly before bottling. Distributed as Badischer Landwein.
Color
Rich straw yellow with slight yeast cloudiness.
Nose
The 2021 Sauvignon blanc from limestone and loess from the Am Klotz vineyard smells of nettles, gooseberries and elderflowers typical of the variety. On the nose, it sketches the herbaceous-spicy aspects rather than loudly joining in the song of Sauvignon blanc. With a little aeration, citrus-zesty aromas of lime peel and goutweed emerge.
Mouth
On the palate, it shows its creamy, yeasty side before the characteristics of Sauvignon blanc come to the fore. With a clearly herbaceous aroma, it has a certain spicy note that is fuelled by the pithy acidity. Notes of white pepper, citrus and cedar complete the aromatic appearance and accompany it into the spicy fresh finish.
