Nose
La Guiana by Sangarida is based on the Galician grape variety Godello. The dominant white variety of the Bierzo red wine region feels right at home on the slate sites. As Vino de Paraje, it refers to an indication of origin and is limited to 1950 bottles. Obviously, it has undergone a longer yeast ageing and proudly shows this to the outside world. As a result, notes of butterscotch, butter biscuits and shortbread unfold in the glass. Almond tart and cream cake with yellow stone fruit are also clearly perceptible. Apricot and mirabelle plum present themselves in the form of freshly cut fruit and in the dried state. Acacia and almond blossoms add delicate, feminine accents. Grated lemons and candied ginger work successfully against it. Dried herbs, such as marjoram and oregano, but also fennel and coriander seeds provide a finely tuned herbal seasoning.
Palate
La Guiana is convincing from the first sip. The present, yellow fruit is counteracted by a well-dosed acid structure. Lemon juice, apricot and mirabelle plum in their pure form characterise the aromatic picture. The acid peaks provide freshness and liveliness on the palate. Its stony, mineral character brings elegance and coolness into play. On the mid palate, a restrained form of melting is added and rounds it off. At the end, a slight bitter note makes an appearance, but it integrates wonderfully there. In the aftertaste, the herbal spice is allowed to show its strengths once again.
