Update 11.05.2021
Wine information
The wine comes from an unnamed parcel of 0.44 hectares. It is located on a south-southeast exposure at 260 meters above sea level. The vines are 47 years old and are rooted in a limestone marl soil that meets a slab of Kimmeridge limestone at a depth of 30 cm. The percentage of oyster shells is particularly high here. The grapes were harvested and sorted by hand and then very slowly pneumatically pressed. Clarification was cool and by gravity. The juice was fermented spontaneously and aged on its lees for 18 months in 600-liter wooden barrels made from multiple grapes. The yeast was stirred regularly during the first months.

Nose
In the fragrance this Sancerre "Monoparcell 538" a great seducer. Ripe pears, vineyard peaches and oranges combine with herbs and a hint of pear cream curd. The Sancerre appears on the one hand creamy, on the other hand clear and fresh with a breath iodine, lemon abrasion, oyster shell and herbs. All this fits together wonderfully despite the lush notes and forms a unity already in the fragrance.
Palate
What seems so silky and fleshy on the nose gets an additional dimension on the palate. There are notes of snowdrops and also of white and red currants, of a lot of herbs and rock spice, also of a little grapefruit abrasion and mint besides the mentioned fruit aromas. What is ingenious is the interplay of fruit, juiciness and this so precise acidity, which on the one hand seems silky, but on the other hand gives way to the Sancerre gives its clear structure and freshness. Added to this is the minerality that the 47 year old vines bring to the wine, accompanying the acidity, fruit, slight saltiness and smokiness into the long finish.
