Color
Light golden yellow with delicate green reflections.
Nose
Delicate ripeness suits Alphonse Mellot's 2016 Sancerre blanc "Edmond" beautifully. Stewed apple, gooseberry pie, persimmon and salt lemon interwoven with cassis, cassis leaf, elderflower and wood, boxwood, green asparagus and ivy. Cool stony minerality and a touch of wood smoke included.
Palate
Juicy, powerful and precise is the quite exotic impression on the tongue, with even more fruit, salty train, a stimulating acidity and piquant phenolic in the aftertaste. This is how Sauvignon Blanc has to present itself with food, not loud in its aromatics and with a stimulating and at the same time discreet appearance on the palate. Wonderful with all kinds of sea food and tasty vegetable cuisine.
