This was followed by whole bunch pressing and then spontaneous fermentation. Rather, even in the warm 2018, the east-facing vineyard delivers bright aromatics oscillating between green and yellow notes of lime and salt lemons, fennel greens and flat-leaf parsley, crushed oyster shells and limestone, green apples and apple peel.

Wine information

The Bret brothers cultivate a plot of only two hectares in the "Climat »La Bonnode" in Saint-Véran. It is located at an altitude of 250 meters and faces east. Located below the Roche de Vergisson, it is characterized by clay on limestone. The vines are 35 years old. The grapes were harvested by hand on September 2, 2018. This was followed by whole cluster pressing and then spontaneous fermentation. The Chardonnay was then aged for 17 months, first in used barrels and then in neutral cuves after the blend. A 100 % malolactic fermentation took place. The wine was only lightly sulphured before bottling. The total sulphur is 35 mg/l. The wine has a pH value of 3.14.

Color

medium straw yellow

Nose

The 2018he La Bonnode shows itself lively, bright and rich in finesse. There is no trace of a possible southern opulence here. Rather, even in the warm 2018, the east-facing vineyard delivers bright aromatics that oscillate between green and yellow notes of lime and salt lemons, fennel greens and flat-leaf parsley, crushed oyster shells and limestone, green apples and apple peel.

Palate

On the palate the Saint-Véran with a luminous brightness. Bright yellow aromas, lots of stone and components reminiscent of the sea combine with juicy pear and apple notes, limequats and lemons, sweet almond slivers and a hint of biscuit. On the finish, the wine shows a fine texture that provides a friction surface, plus salt and an acidity that keeps the wine in tension for a long time like a sinew.
