Color
In delicate bright golden yellow, the wine appears clear and shiny in the glass.
Nose
Although yellow-fleshed fruit may dominate this Chardonnay from Saint Romain, an exciting and spicy exoticism plays an equally central role. Besides Sharon fruit and grilled pineapple, as well as papaya and some orange peel, this wine has an immense amount of pepper in its luggage. White Muntok pepper and Szechuan refine the scent of the earthy spice of hummus and roasted chickpeas; fragrantly lightened with some coriander green.
Palate
Tabula rasa. On the palate, a precision landing, the 2015 Saint Romain from Clos du Moulin aux Moines does not hit the bull's eye, but triple 20 on the gustatory dartboard. Lush, spicy and full of brightness, yet delicate and cohesive, pure balance is experienced here. A spirited body, fine acidity and mineral length adorned with stucco give it stately size.
