Color
Ruby red with garnet reflections.
Nose
The nose opens befittingly, red apples enter the stage, then an assortment of berry fruits, the cherry rushes cheekily ahead, followed by currants and blackberries in the appendix. It gets crowded on stage, the wooden floor creaks, mild spices of juniper and black pepper push their way in and threaten to fall into the orchestra pit, the baton reminds of calm.
Mouth
The 2017 Saint-Aubin Le Ban from Domaine Derain opens the first act with a fruity overture, the eyes of the audience shine. Tannins follow in the second movement, youthful with taut thighs they put a solid sole on the parket. The orchestra plays in top form and the audience races. Certainly not high culture, but far from burlesque enough for standing ovations. Applause, curtain, and off.
