Nose
Citrus is the theme of the first encounter with the 2017 Les Meurgers des Dents du Chien Saint Aubin 1er Cru from Domaine Derain. Citrus, lemon zest, candied lemon peel and the white mesocarp define the olfactory direction of travel, which develops noticeably with increasing aeration with aromas of cloves, Christmas cake, light tobacco, chervil as well as crushed oyster shells and melted butter.
Mouth
In the nose it shows itself without citrusy tip, instead lemony creamy with expansive, creamy broad palate. Balanced by delicate bitterness after tart grapefruitzeste it shows extractsweet with good density, almost fleshy and yet with vertical acidity, great vibration and depth on the palate.
