François de Nicolay is the name of the Négoce business under the management of the family-owned Domaine Chandon de Briailles in Savigny-Lès-Beaune. This means that only wines are produced and sold that do not come from the estate's own land. The grapes, musts or wines used for this come from certified organic or biodynamic vineyards or plants that are in conversion. Vinified in the cellar of Chandon et Briailles, the wines are marketed under their own label with their own label.

Nose
The 2019 Les Maziéres Rully by François de Nicolay quickly wraps you around its finger - the currently very popular reduction note also adorns this Rully and gives it that special twist of edginess that makes people understandably freak out. Flint, flint and a spoonful of egg salad are rarely found in such harmonious liaison, the whole underpinned by oyster shells and a fresh sea breeze. The fruit is on holiday, and so the wine shines as a salty, spicy, distinctive one-off.
Mouth
On the palate, it is carried by its fine yeasty melt, which gives it its creamy feel. This pleasing contrast to the rather sparse, angular nose of the wine is contoured by slightly tart tannins at the edge of the tongue, which set the straight lines of the drinking flow. Salty, spicy, tart drinking fun with a tart melt and mouthwatering finish.
