The "Les Vaux" comes from 45 year old vines directly behind the Domaine Coche-Dury near the centre of Meursault. Three weeks of maceration with 90% whole clusters and daily spilling over. The wine is then pumped into barriques and undergoes malolactic fermentation. It was bottled unfiltered and unfined after a small addition of sulphur after 18 months of ageing.

Transparent ruby red with violet reflections.

Nose

The nose of the 2018 Côte d'Or "Les Vaux" from Domaine Rougeot Pére & Fils starts with neat red fruit and ironed lapels, until increasingly spicy notes appear on the scene and spoil the child's hairdo. Somewhat coarse, the clear fruit shines against a wild background with a slightly rustic character. Underwood, nutshells and allspice complement the puristic fruit. Authentically straightforward drink.

Mouth

This impression continues on the palate. Nothing aristocratic awaits the inclined drinker, but an upright, rustic Burgundian drink with uncouth corners and edges that have not been smoothed out in the course of a hype. The radiant fruit on the nose is as brilliant as on the palate, until the rough and youthful tannin with its tart, animating bitterness rattles in and ensures that it doesn't get too cosy. Edgy and pure, this is very clear material for angular drinkers.
