Color
Transparent ruby red, bright and clear.
Nose
Black cherries, bay leaf, juniper and licorice populate the rich, opulent nose of the 2015 Rosso di Montalcino from Pian dell'Orino. Underneath the primary, warm fruit, light toasted notes of coffee and a fine wood spice emerge with a bit of air, tying the round dance into a whole.
Mouth
With a juicy attack, it combines the freshness of Sangiovese Grosso with ripe fruit and generous extract. With high-pile tannin on the tongue, the tannins keep the fruit in check and give it the right polish. Fleshy with an animatingly tart finish and ethereal, fruity finish, the Rosso offers an excellent performance this year.
