Wine information

The Vazart-Coquart Extra Brood Rosé grand cru comes from a Grand Cru vineyard of eleven hectares in Chouilly. The age of the Chardonnay vines there averages 43 years, the Pinot is younger. The vines are deeply rooted in belemnite chalk. The winery was in conversion to sustainable and organic viticulture. The first certified organic harvest was in 2020. 85 % Chardonnay and 15 % Pinot Noir were used for this cuvée. 80 % were from 2016, 20 % from a réserve perpétuelle started in 1982, from which 40 % are taken and replenished each year. The base wine was fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks and underwent malolactic fermentation. The dégorgement was Champagne in March 2021 exclusively for Vinaturel with a dosage of 3.5 grams .

Color

quite intense red, almost reminiscent of saignée. Wild raspberry red with lively, frothy perlage.

Nose

The Extra Brut Rosé Grand Cru is an intense and yet elegant Champagnethat oscillates between fruit, herbs and spices. Slightly smoky at first, it offers notes of wild strawberries and raspberries, some peach, blood oranges and grapefruit rind. With air, it becomes more earthy and the smoky note becomes more present again. It smells of foliage and undergrowth, flowers and herbs. There also seems to be a little juniper, almost as if there were a sip of gin involved.

Palate

On the palate, the rosé is silky and elegant, but also with a pleasantly light tannin that, together with the acidity, challenges the ripe red and yellow fruit. The Rosé Grand Cru Also shows notes of ripe peaches and raspberries, plus blood oranges and tangerines as well as a little warm pastry, but then again a cool freshness with lots of juiciness.
