Tasting note from from 31.12.2015, Copyright Peter Müller

Color:

A bright garnet red with brick-colored rim brings a discreetly cloudy wine into the glass through which one can read the newspaper. To the Swabian it reminds of Trollinger in a positive sense.

Nose:

If the country nursery has set up its display right next to the stables....
The delicate floral scent of hibiscus, lavender and tulips is shaken and grounded by notes of bark mulch, musk, leather and cow dung. This wine requires a large glass, but should not be decanted if you want to accompany its evolution.
Once the initial stink (positively tainted) has dissipated, berry notes of wild strawberry and raspberry come into play, as well as plum and rooibos tea.

Palate:

Juicy, with unagitated yet supportive tannins and crisp acidity, the 2014 Romanissa Casot from Domaine Matassa is a light-footed, fragrant red wine that was created for one thing only: to be drunk. If not even drunk.
Tom Lubbe's answer to Fleurie. Enjoy chilled at 15ºC.

Food recommendations by Peter Müller:

  • Smoked mackerel with salad of chard and yellow beetroot
(fish, tuna, mackerel, salads, leafy vegetables, beetroot/yellow beet)
  • Ox heart tomatoes stuffed with spelt and feta cheese from the oven
(cheese, cream cheese, fruit vegetables (nightshade))
  • Sour tripe with lentils and warm potato salad (vegetarian)
    (pulses, potato, vegetarian dishes)
