Merlot IGP Méditerranée 2020

Dense cherry red with bright, violet reflections

The dark fruity nose reveals plenty of morello cherry, plum and blackberry. Mulberry and raspberry also join in. Some of the fruits seem sweetly preserved and seasoned with spices such as cinnamon or clove. A hint of gingerbread and Christmas biscuits spread through the glass. Etheric notes of pine needles and eucalyptus are present. A little lemon balm and mint can also be detected. The dark fruit experiences many brightening moments that make it radiate lightness.

On the palate, it seamlessly follows up on the expectations of the nose. The Merlot provides a lot of loud, soft and round fruit. At the same time, there should be no boredom. Quite the opposite! Drinking fluency is called for. Juicy, almost slender and thus few barriers for quickly empty glasses and bottles. The 2020 Merlot from Roche-Audran is pleasantly unagitated and uncomplicated. The fruit is appealing and in very good balance with a perfectly integrated acidity. More of it!
