Info about the wine
The Riesling "vom blauen Schiefer" is the second wine from the Fahrlay area. This steep slope is located directly next to the Pünderich ferry landing stage and is the only area of the Pünderich Marienburg where blue slate dominates. This type of slate is significantly harder than the grey or red slate. The vines have a hard time at first until their roots have penetrated into the deep, watery crevices of the slates. From there, however, they are then optimally supplied with stored water and minerals.
Color
Medium strong, sparkling golden yellow.
Nose.
The 2020 Riesling "vom blauen Schiefer" already impresses on the nose with its precise and fresh style. In addition to pronounced citrus and apple fruit, it is the cool and intense slate notes that characterise this wine. Pure lightness and freshness in combination with mineral depth are the characteristics that make this wine a seducer already in the nose, as clear as a mountain spring.
Palate
It is fantastic how it catapults this freshness onto the tongue, its lively acidity unites with notes of apple and citrus fruit, the mineral trace is omnipresent, the finish encourages more. Here we have a wonderfully invigorating Riesling with a slender 11.5 vol% alcohol in the glass, pure joy ensues.
