Color

In shining gold with discreet silvery reflexes the wine shows itself clearly and brilliantly in the glass.

Nose

As with so many of Martin Muthethaler's wines, this one needs carafe, air and patience to do it justice. First, this Riesling declines through citrus groves of various kinds. The juice and peel of grapefruit and the flesh of honey pomelo shine through, as does the freshness of kaffir lime leaves and the ethereal depth of bergamot. Physalis and yellow apple join in modestly. Herbal aromas of nasturtium, lemon balm and dried ginger also fall into the frenzy and do not let the nose leave the glass.

Palate

The 2017 Riesling Vießlinger Stern by Martin Muthenthaler makes a simple yet undeniable statement on the palate that is almost exactly how this phrase begins Vießlinger Stern by Martin Muthenthaler!

This is a purist documentation of its origins and the year of its vinification in the unmistakable signature of the winemaker who accompanied these grapes on their way to discovering their destiny.

In other words, yellow-fleshed wallpaper lines the throat and dries stonily, while subtle phenolics add freshness to this Riesling, along with crystalline acidity.

Clear. Long. Big. Reverberation corresponds to passion.
