Konstantin Weiser and his partner Alexandra Künstler have been making steep-slope wines since 2005. It all began with a small plot in the Ellergrub, which they initially developed with Daniel Vollenweider until the current winery was found in 2008. The pure Riesling winery initially produced exclusively residually sweet wines. Today, the 4.2 hectares of production are divided into dry and residually sweet, with most of the wines being vinified semi-dry and coming exclusively from the Ellergub. The concise phenolic is a guiding theme of Weiser-Künstler's wines, which are always contoured by noble bitters in addition to their concise acidity.
To save the old cultural landscape and the steep slopes, Weiser artists are members of the Klitzekleiner Ring. You could call it preservation by drinking. A good and important mission.
Color
Bright straw yellow with greenish reflections, radiant and clear.
Nose
The nose almost jumps out of the glass, the 2021 Trabener Gaispfad Riesling halbtrocken from Weiser-Künstler is so cheerful and enjoyable. Super animating, it unfolds in the glass and shows notes of Granny Smith and lemon balm, which are spicily counteracted by the spontaneous note. Top notes are scented with lemon blossom and green mandarin, somewhat reminiscent of a biscuit roll. This joyful conglomerate is grounded by its distinctive slate note.
Mouth
The 21st vintage shows itself with exquisite excellence, especially on the Mosel, if you are a friend of the cool, classic Riesling style. The wine is wiry on the palate with a sinewy stature reminiscent of Iggy Pop. The wine is a prime example of the much talked about balance of sweetness and acidity and performs on the palate with crystalline elegance. The pulsating acidity is fuelled by the sweetness-acidity play of the fruit as well as the striking minerality and results in rapid drinking flow.
