Nose
From the middle Schlossberg slope, within the sites belonging to the Cuvée Ste. Catherine, comes this late harvested Riesling. It opens with a fruit of yellow and red apple, some Reineclaude as well as apple peel. Then it turns citrusy. Kumquats and oranges set the tone. In addition, there is more and more spice from the smoky stone, turmeric and ginger, notes that run through all Schlossberg wines. Here, however, there is also a little petrol, which indicates the late harvest in the fragrance. Overall, however, also this Castle Hill pleasantly taut and clear in its aromatic orientation.
Palate
First of all, the L'Inedit Creamy and soft on the palate, very juicy and fruit-driven with lots of ripe orange fruit and a soft-acting acidity. And although this Riesling naturally has a little less acidity and instead over 20 grams of fruit sweetness, it becomes more and more punchy at the back. In addition, the incisive spice and minerality is also found at the back of the palate and in the elongated finish. That's when the wine really turns on. Turmeric and ginger are back, as well as the stone, some cinnamon and candied orange peel. And despite all the fullness that builds up, the Riesling is always clear as well as structured and remains rather on the lean and fresh side in an absolutely positive sense. The longer you follow this wine, which is less explosive than many of its predecessors, the more impressive this Riesling experience becomes. Because with air and some warmth, this wine becomes an absolutely coherent, harmonious and complex event.
