Tasting note from from 02.02.2020, Copyright Peter Müller

The wine shows itself in bright golden yellow clear and shiny in the glass.

This Riesling from the Oestricher Klosterberg jumps out of the glass with the unadulterated verve of a brash youngster. Citrus aromas fill the glass with the vitalizing scent of a symbiosis of lemon tart and American cheesecake. Lemon curd, lime zest and kumquats enthusiastically meet lemongrass and lemon balm. A hearty dollop of sour cream and crème fraîche deepens their intensity.

The 2017 Klosterberg Riesling Erste Lage from the Kühn family also shows impressive youthfulness and charisma on the palate. Its acidity is true to the style of an Aston Martin DB5 from 1964; just as effortlessly in the same breath with the same timeless elegance. Free of frills, straightforward and sparse, the slender body of the cool Rheingau wine stretches out and ensures increased saliva production.

Food recommendations by Peter Müller:

  • Salad of green beans and radicchio with sorrel, mustard seeds and rye crostini (vegetarian)
    (Vegetables & Vegetarian, Salads)
  • Oysters with horseradish, Granny Smith apple and tarragon
(Seafood, Oysters & Mussels, Fruit & Nuts)
  • Steamed cod with spinach salad, edamame and ginger jasmine rice
(fish, pasta, pizza, polenta & risotto, salads)
