Wine information
For Kühling-Gillot, the Ölberg is the southernmost site in the Nierstein Rote Hang. It is the only site with a completely southern exposure and, with a slope of 60 %, a classic steep site. The red clay slate replaces the humus layer of the vineyard as weathering rock and serves as a heat reservoir.
Color
pale straw yellow
Nose
The Mount of Olives currently shows almost a little naturel with notes of apple and apple peel, but above all also of apple cider as well as a breath Brussels Geuze. With the time more and more herbal notes, some yellow apple, orange, net melon, nectarine and fine spice notes like cinnamon and turmeric are found.
Mouth
On the palate, the wine from the Ölberg is juicy and clear with plenty of power and a tannin that was already hinted at in the nose. Everything here is set up for a long ripening, and the red slate weathered soil does the rest by bringing a formative minerality to the Riesling. There is an amazing amount of power, demanding acidity, slight saltiness and lots of pressure on the palate here. This wine is still in its infancy and will develop excellently over the next few years.
