The wine offers a soft mouthfeel and yet has an impressive liveliness, which comes not least from the ancient vines that bring the minerality and the associated energy and vitality to the wine. And that's also where the acidity comes to life and the wine becomes more and more complex.

Wine information

The Pünderich site Marienburg Fahrlay is a vineyard with mainly blue shining slate. The clay content is high, and there is also a small proportion of lime particles. The very gravelly terraced site faces south. The nature of the rock provides high tension and minerality in the wine later. The terraces are a small area within the Fahrlay site, whose vines are more than 100 years old. After harvesting and sorting, the grapes receive a longer maceration period, are pressed very slowly with low pressure and fermented spontaneously. The clarification takes place by sedimentation. Apart from small amounts of sulphur, nothing else is added. The maturation takes place in traditional Moselan Fuder barrels of 1,000 liters capacity.

Palate

On the palate, the Riesling delivers Fahrlay »Terraces" a silky ripe play of appropriately ripe, actually typical 2018 acidity. The wine offers a soft mouthfeel yet has an impressive vibrancy that comes in no small part from the ancient vines that bring the minerality and associated energy and vitality to the wine. White-fleshed fruit and some grapefruit zest provide the fruit components here, and towards the finish the wine becomes increasingly powerful and powerful with plenty of spice and increasing pressure. And that's also where the acidity comes to life and the wine becomes more and more complex.
