Nose
The wines from the 2015 Marienburge Felsterrasse by Clemens Busch are always characterised by their concise grey slate minerality. Already in the nose it is clearly defined, without ornamentation or decoration. Straightforward with clear aromas of white cedro lemon peel, lemon oil and grapefruit zest, the merciless slate minerality shimmers under the top note. Sparse and salty, it is reminiscent of ground oyster shells, sea salt and small pebbles, as they tend to lie on the driveways of some Bordelais chateaus.
Mouth
Fully ripe lemons are again found in the nose. With juicy fruit and sinewy-saline stature, the wine is full-bodied, the citrus aromas pulsate and tighten the wide-stretched acidity sail. There is also a salty breeze like walking on the beach. The wine is firm with a punchy mid-palate and fine-grained tannin that gives it its size contoured by noble bitterness. Aromatically tart with warm bass on the long finish.
