About the wine
The carefully selected grapes for this special wine come directly from the heart of the Pündericher Marienburg, a region known for its grey slate soil. A botrytis content of 10 to 15 percent contributes to this unique selection. The grapes grow on vines that are between 30 and 35 years old. This noble wine was bottled in May 2019 and matured entirely in traditional barrels.

Fragrance profile
The bouquet of the 2018 Marienburg Riesling Auslese shines with wonderful aromas of honey and pickled fruits such as orange, apricot, pineapple, lime and mango. A fine spiciness with nuances of vanilla, aniseed, cinnamon and cardamom comes through without ever being obtrusive. This aroma is rounded off by herbal nuances and a pronounced minerality, which is already recognisable in the aroma as an omen of the quality of this wine.

Taste
On the tongue, the 2018 Marienburg Riesling Auslese unfolds its full glory. A powerful sweetness harmonises perfectly with the equally intense acidity. Salty notes and a powerful minerality provide an impressive arc of tension, which is nevertheless accessible with only 7 Vol% alcohol. The endless finish hints at the future viability and incredible potential of this sweet seduction. This wine needs time to fully develop, but already shows itself in a beautifully matured state.

Food recommendations
Try an airy vanilla biscuit with honey-glazed peaches or a spicy yellow curry with prawns and mangoes. Spicy cheeses such as an aged cheddar or manchego also harmonise wonderfully with a fruity cherry chutney.
