Info about the wine:

Hohen-Sülzen is located in the so-called Eisbachtal; and as the name suggests, the cold low mountain stream that rises in the Donnersberg massif exerts a considerable influence on the cooler nights. The difference between day and night temperatures is higher in Hohen-Sülzen than in the other districts.

Color:

Brilliant golden yellow.

Nose:

On the nose, the 2019 Hohensülzen Riesling shows powerful stone fruit notes of apricots, mirabelles and vineyard peach, underpinned by earthy and stony notes that give it a certain coolness and depth. Smoky notes and many herbal aromas enrich the fragrance and increase its complexity.

Palate:

On the tongue, it spreads out with lots of yellow fruit, salt lemon and a demanding beautiful acidity. Lots of grip in the mid-palate and long finish. A wine that can age wonderfully and should be decanted at its current stage, fantastic with dishes with concentrated sauces.

Food recommendations by Christina Hilker:

  • Ramen noodles with vegetables and Thai curry sauce
    (Vegetable & Vegetarian)
  • Scallops with vanilla-orange butter
    (Seafood)
  • Monkfish with almond crust on salted lemon sauce
    (Fish)
