Nose
The nose of the 2016 Hipping Riesling Großes Gewächs from Kühling-Gillot appears in youthful regalia A juicy yellow fruit of nectarine and apricot mixes with spicy components such as sage, thyme and white pepper. This melange hovers over the wine's minerality, already clearly evident on the nose, which condenses into aromas of oyster shells and wet table chalk. Never strikingly exuberant, but always precise in its statement and hint of what is to come.
Mouth
While the nose already gives quite explicit information, the palate is meanwhile still reserved. The juicy fruit with a high extract and great inner density is supported by the aromatic minerality of the Roter Hang, which is a testament to the wine's origin. The acidity is finely blended into the overall package and ensures a joyful drinking flow. Great ageing potential.
