Color
Rich lemon yellow, bright and clear with brilliant reflections.
Nose
The nose of Peter Jakob Kühn's 2018 Hallgartener Hendelberg ties together a colorful bouquet of pome fruit, yellow stone fruit, and mild culinary herbs and white flowers. Apples and pears are complemented by mirabelles and herbs like sage, which give it a tart underpinning. Wet chalk, ginger and curry leaves in the top note make the wheel go round in circles.
Mouth
With enormous depth on the nose, it is carried by a triptych of fruit, minerality and phenolic. The juicy fruit and citrus notes of lemon oil and kumquats are surrounded by its filigree vibrating acidity and fine tart phenolic. On the palate, it builds decent pressure and plays up its aromatic depth to the full before flowing quietly into the serious saline finish. Palate cinema on widescreen format, directors cut, of course!
