Info about the situation

The decision for this wine was made during the harvest in the vineyard. Old vines - as in our Hallgarten plots - are a great treasure. With the aplomb of many vintages lived through, they produce grapes full of energy and incomparable depth of flavour - materiality and elegance combined. The vines are all over forty years old and stand in the classified sites Jungfer, Schönhell and Würzgarten on great soils - partly a melange of pebble and phyllite. Due to the higher altitude, the development of ripeness here is somewhat delayed compared to the Oestricher vineyards, which gives the grapes their own flavourful timbre. Its fruit is bright and clear, yellow-fruited, with a grippy structure and positive radiance that carries over from the tongue to the tips of the toes.

Info about the expansion

100 % Hand harvest, gentle whole cluster pressing, spontaneous fermentation with natural yeasts, ageing on the lees in large wooden barrels until the end of March.

Bottled in August 2021.

Color

Sparkling light golden yellow with green reflections.

Nose

The 2020 Riesling Hallgarten VDP.Ortswein Alte Reben trocken is a compact, mineral and profound wine that beguiles with aromas of apple, orange, orange zest and countless herbs such as yarrow, mint and lemon verbena. Already in the nose it conquers the connoisseur with its intensity!

Palate

On the tongue, it literally grabs hold with its minerality and power. Its ripe fruit and juicy structure thrill the palate. The interplay of fruit, mineral depth, lively acidity and the long finish point to its fantastic ageing potential. A fantastic Riesling that seeks a combination with culinary delights.

Be sure to ventilate!
