Wine information
The vineyard was first mentioned in 1290 as "»an frauwenhalten" and was then owned by a nunnery. It is located 250 meters above sea level and is characterized by limestone gravel on pure limestone rock. The vines of this exposed site must be able to cope with both heat and cool winds. In order to reach the minerals, the vines have to root very deep.

medium straw yellow
Nose
The effect of biodynamic farming and the search for the pure terroir can be seen in the Großes Gewächs from the Frauenberg. One can already vividly imagine what a remarkable vineyard reveals itself when sniffing it. At first, you find a slight oxidation note and something like Brussels Gose, a sour beer with a lactic and yeasty taste. But once the Riesling gets past the first few minutes in the glass, it comes alive and comes into its own. The Frauenberg lives from its phenolic note, from tart spicy and herbal notes like coriander seeds, curry leaves and liquorice. As far as the fruit is concerned, this is nobly in the background and flashes only here and there. Some lemon can be located, also peach and apricot.
Mouth
On the palate it becomes taut and again phenolic. The acidity draws an arc of tension from the first moment of the taste until the long finish. In between there are citric notes. Also red berry herbs and wet stone pass by, furthermore some light tobacco and herbs. The wine remains present for a long time thanks to the taut acidity and the associated lively minerality. It is still at the very beginning of its development and is happy about time in the cellar or time in the carafe.
